Highlights

Abstract: Establishes a minimum setback for hydraulic fracturing in relation to residential dwellings, schools, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Present law authorizes the commissioner of conservation to issue permits for the exploration of minerals.

Proposed law retains present law but prohibits the commissioner from issuing permits for hydraulic fracturing when such a well or test well is within 1,320 feet of any residential dwelling, school, hospital, or nursing home.
