LOGA to publish Louisiana Oil & Gas History Book

The Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA), Louisiana’s premier oil and gas industry association, has announced plans to publish a new comprehensive illustrated history of Louisiana’s petroleum industry.

The book, to be titled Louisiana: The Energy State is being written by historian William D. Reeves.

According to Don Briggs, president of LOGA, the book “will give a fresh perspective on our industry’s colorful history”.

The book is a “coffee table” book and will contain hundreds of photographs, illustrations, maps and other images, many of which have never been in print.  Numerous images will be reproduced in full color.

Louisiana: The Energy State will be a “landmark publication,” Briggs stated, that will be fun to read and peruse, yet will accurately record the story of Louisiana’s energy industry.

“We intend to present a fascinating narrative dealing with the oil barons, wildcatters and boom towns that are such a major part of Louisiana history.  It will also chronicle offshore drilling technology, developed in Louisiana, that has changed the industry worldwide .  And it will discuss how the energy industry has shaped Louisiana’s economy and culture and benefitted each Louisiana resident through job creation and lower taxes,” Terry said.

Dr. Reeves is not only authoring the historic manuscript, but also researching and selecting images to be included in the book. Dr. Reeves is a former president of the Louisiana Historical Society and is the author of nine books, including Historic Louisiana, an important general history of the state.  He has written dozens of articles and monographs on historical topics.

A  unique part of Louisiana: The Energy State is the "Sharing The Heritage" section that will include the histories of businesses that have helped make the oil and gas industry what it is today. Participation in this section is being offered by invitation to companies which have played a role in the development of the industry. To learn more information about how your business can be apart of this chapter, please contact our project manager, Curtis Courtney, at 318-344-6512 or email him at historybooks@juno.com to schedule an appointment.

Louisiana: The Energy State is being produced, utilizing the services of Historical Publishing Network as a publishing consultant.  Louisiana: The Energy State will be the eighth in the Louisiana Heritage series of books produced by Historical Publishing Network.

The book, when published, will sell for $49.95 and will be available through book stores, other retail outlets and online book sellers.
